A change for me is coming.
I think so anyway. No, I know so. I hate change. But change is good. And necessary. But I hate announcing it. Because then I have to do it.
This blog is going to change–it’s content anyway. It needs to change. I’m tired of it. This is something I’ve been thinking about doing for quite some time. But I haven’t because well, my blogging style is pretty easy. And I like easy. But I’m tired of it. Many of you are tired of it. And I get that. “Jesus Needs New PR” was a great idea in 2005. Heck, it’s still a good idea. But it’s not where I’m at anymore. Oh, Jesus still needs new PR–who am I kidding–Jesus needs an intervention. But that’s no longer where I am.
(No, I’m not changing my Twitter handle–at least, not yet: @MatthewPaulTurner is too long and I don’t know what other handle I’d use).
So yeah, change is coming. Not everything will change. But hopefully, going forward won’t be easy. Or predictable. And my heart will be in it. I’m proud of this blog. But change is good.
Oh, I will still have opinions. Likely I’ll have more opinions. And thankfully, my skin is getting thicker, so I’ll be less inclined to hold back. Which happens more than you might think.
I might lose readers. And that’s okay.
I have my voice again. I’m dreaming and imagining again. Hell, I’m writing again. Really writing. And that’s important. I don’t want to lose readers. I love almost every one of you! But I’m going to be me. Because that feels good. And right. And my heart fills up when I think about it.
Speaking of writing, I’ve officially signed a contract with Jericho Books for my next title. (The release date isn’t until Summer 2014). I’m researching/writing/creating now. I’m so excited about this next project. And I’m equally excited about working with the beautiful people at Jericho. I’m a big fan of Wendy & Co. And too, I’m honored and humbled to be listed among the names of authors on the Jericho roster. So many of my friends. So many of my heroes. So many of the names and faces who challenge me and make me feel not so alone.
What’s the book about? Well, right now the working title is this: God is Fat: A Short but Stout History of America’s Ever Growing Deity. It’s about America’s image of God. How we have changed God, shaped God, and formed God into our own image. That’s all I can share at the moment. Because I’m writing it. And I’m excited about it. I have much to say. So much is happening.
My weekly radio talk show starts in February! I’ll tell you more about that soon. And remind me to tell you about my children’s book.
More to come.
Viagra is for the treatment of inability to get or keep an hard-on and similar states when erection is of low quality. When you buy remedies like cialis from canada you should know about cialis online canada. It may have a lot of brands, but only one ATC Code. Erectile dysfunction, defined as the persistent impossibility to maintain a satisfactory erection, affects an estimated 15 to 30 millions men in the America alone. Sexual heartiness is an substantial part of a man’s life, no question his age etc.
Change is good. So is being yourself. Looking forward to your next book!
I love almost every one of you! 😀
You won’t lose me. I’d stalk you no matter what. Stalking burns calories, I hear.
In your research for your book, have you read American Jesus by Stephen Prothero? I’m going to guess that you have, but if not, you should certainly take a look!
Oh yes. Prothero’s brain and writing thrill me. Reading it again now.
I was introduced to him in an undergraduate course on the history of attitudes about death. His book Purified By Fire has been on my shelf ever since. There aren’t very many other books that I’ve held on to from courses I took my freshman year of college! I teach at a Christian university and try to introduce his writing to my students the way my history prof did for me.
"I have my voice again. I’m dreaming and imagining again."… Change IS good! Looking forward to seeing where the blog is headed 🙂
Sounds exciting!
Congrats on all the new things on your horizon. I can’t wait to read and listen to your new endeavors.
Enjoy the changes and the process of making it happen!
Jericho Books is making good acquisition decisions, and you are one of them.
All right!!! I’m excited for you, Matthew – there’s been this undercurrent afoot, here and on FB. And it felt right and good – and now, here’s proof. So glad you’re working on a new book and I look forward to whatever you feel is right for this space.
Excited for your new chapter, Matthew. And congrats on your book!
I wish you well on your evolution of thought and opportunity!
Yay you! Status quo is boring, stifles growth and generally smells bad.
Congrats on signing with Jericho–Wendy RAWKS!!
Just saying that whenever you’ve written a more personal post about what you think, I always wish you’d write more of them, even if it was only once a week. Looking forward to this!
You’re not getting rid of me that easily. Excited to see what the next days, months, years have in store.
Excited to see what’s next for you, Matthew. And looking forward to reading the book once it’s done!
Love it!! I’m excited for you — and us!
I’m excited about this! Also, CONGRATS on the book deal. Can’t wait to hear more about it.
