So people are not free to choose to have an abortion, not free to choose who to marry, but we have to defend freedom at all costs?!?! Whose?

  • Leanne says:

For a people whose God constantly says or sends messengers who say “Do not be afraid” we sure like to use scare tactics.

  • Brad S says:

“And if by grace, then it is no longer by works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.” Unless you vote Democratic and then you’re going straight to Hell.

  • EllieC says:

The right to life from conception to natural death? Oh sure, unless you’re a woman (read incubator), or old, or poor, or hungry, or a member of the wrong tribe. Then, it’s “I’ve got mine, Jack; now root hog, or die.”
“Be not afraid, only believe,” is apparently not in Mr. Huckabee’s Bible.

  • Shawn says:

political rhetoric has little to do with theology or good news (the gospel).

Thanks for sharing that video with your friends. 🙂 That is one of the worst examples of confusing conservative Americanism with following Jesus that I have ever seen.
Another thing. Doesn’t it violate flag etiquette to use it as a table cloth and put things on top of it? And they call themselves American Christians! 🙂

  • Ivory says:

Not a great video but important things to think about for anyone who claims the name of Christ.I know we are not electing a national pastor or priest.
But should not the God of the faith we claim have His Word guide us as citizens in a secular, even anti Christian world?

    • Pam says:

Of course it should – but that won’t necessarily look like what Mike Huckabee et al think. I most definitely am influenced by my being a Christian in what I see as important issues to influence my vote, but that hasn’t led me to vote for conservative ‘family values’ parties. The problem is when people like Huckabee think they have complete ownership on what are the ‘Christian values’ we should vote for. Personally, the ones I value are more to do with caring for the poor and creation, and less about imposing a moral code on the wider community.

    • Leanne says:

of course my faith informs my vote. But the truth is neither party is pro life enough for me. I don’t like abortion as birth control, but I also am against the death penalty, against war, and I believe that health care is a pro life issue–everyone should be able to be cared for by doctors without having to go in debt. So what party do I vote for?
So the real message the church should be giving is to call for justice for the unborn and the born, the poor, the sick, the imprisoned….We should be calling both parties to task where they fall short. And no where should we be declaring one party to be bringing the Kingdom. God will not be voted in. We fail because we have listened to the Mike Huckabees who have made the Republican Party the face of the Kingdom.
