I have no idea hos KjV is gonna help me get better cabinet space. Or, Is it just about using the massive coffee table Bible to stop that table wobble? can you use a KJV Bible as a hammer, or is it more of a screwdriver? So many questions!!!!!

  • Chris says:

Aaron,KJV has been used as a hammer many many times…

If you ever do a bracketed tournament pitting these against each another, I’m taking this one all the way to the finals.

I have been told many times that home improvement begins at Lowe’s. WTH?! Was the television lying to me?! 🙂 Honestly, for some strange, strange, reason… I like the King Jame’s version a lot better than most people that I know. I don’t know why. Maybe… tradition?

There’s nothing wrong with the KJV… it’s the compulsion of some that say it’s the only bible… it’s beautifully written…

Right on. While it does have a few glaring mistranslations (such as “pisseth against the wall” and the literal Greek rendering of Hebrew names in the New Testament), overall, I find the Jacobean English quaint and beautiful. There’s loving the Bible, and then there’s worshiping the Bible. IFB folks (the only staunch KJV-onlyists I know of ) definitely fall into the latter category.

I agree. Although the statement “there is nothing wrong with the KJV” might be debatable among translators, as you have pointed out.But the KJV offers not just a beautiful language but also a lens into how people of that era interpreted Scripture at that time–since all translations are interpretations. When we acknowledge that each translation is an interpretation, we are freed from the worship of one over the others and able to get closer to the heart of the Scripture.

It seems like they may need to try and figure out where auto body repair starts

  • I would dig it if is just said Bible…improving your home by living after the teachings of Christ is a good thing,,,,but really kjv? I thought that translation debate ended years ago?

    • Oh no, it didn’t end. Not by a long shot. There are plenty of KJV-only folks still around and they are adamant to the point you cannot even have a friendly conversation with them.

  • One question: dost thou thy word order invert?
