And yes, I loved that Choir, not easily distracted. That was a group of PROFESSIONALS! “The show must go on!”

  • Jockmcgonzo says:

amazed by the choir to and quite impressed by the improvisation of the ‘romans’ to just try and hold him up there.

  • lionrebel says:

I love the tender way the soldiers lifted him back up on to the cross…especially the pushing of his hair out of his eyes – if only his hippy hair wasn’t so long!

  • hahaah!

man i was at a church once where they couldn’t lift Jesus and the cross at the same time, so Jesus gets off of the cross and helps them out, then gets back on.

I would love to find that clip somewhere.

Wow yeah sorry, I did laugh out loud at this. If you lost followers over this too bad. If I wasn’t already following you, you would have gained me as a follower! HA

  • Soooo funny!! Fixing his wig was awesome!!

  • Awesome. And sad. And funny. But not. All at the same time.

True story: I used to play in the orchestra for a local Passion Play production in Bemidji, MN. One year a group of teens down in the front row got ahold of some palm fronds left over from the entrance to Jerusalem scene. They began to tickle Jesus’ feet on the cross. And apparently he had had some tasty baked beans and an egg salad sandwich for supper, because he kept audibly passing gas while trying not to laugh. In the silence. On the cross.

I thought I was going to die. Such conflicted emotions for a young conservative Lutheran.

Anyway, the final kicker came after his death scene. As the Roman soldier pulled Jesus from the cross and draped his body over his shoulder to carry him out, a long protracted final passing of gas was heard coming from the freshly crucified Jesus.

    Kinda blew the mood.

And Jesus was played by the Senior Pastor of the church hosting the play. I still wince every time I imagine him rerunning the scene in his mind. Trying not to laugh. Trying to portray JESUS on the cross with dignity. Being tortured by palm fronds. Breaking wind.

Dude. The ultimate “Want to get away?” commercial of all time…

  • I with the rest of the crew here, how in the world did the choir not miss a beat? wow.

  • Jill says:

This is hilarious… and some people say God doesn’t have a sense of humor!

  • mallen says:

okay, I admit it, I did chuckle at this one. It reminded me of the time I was in the choir for an Easter Drama. The choir had just sang our sad song about Jesus dying and we were supposed to turn and lovingly gaze at our crucified Lord whose crown of thorns turned into a necklace of thorns…

I wasn’t trying to be mean. I’m probably not funny. I was just trying to maybe point out that there is a line that maybe not be crossed. Those people (well, maybe not the guy on the lawn tracker) probably did these dramas out of the love in their hearts for Christ and what He did for us. Maybe they don’t have it down perfectly, but they want the message to be out… Jesus died for YOU!!

What does Jesus find funny? I’m sure a lot of things makes Him laugh. Especially at us Christians who think we got everything all together!!

No offence to you MPT. I have read your and your wife’s blog for quite awhile. I do pray for you as a husband, father, but most of all as a Christian “leader”.
