apple store says no to jesus!

By May 12, 2009Blog

Actually, the company just said no to stocking the Jesus iPhone app, which allows one to replace Jesus’s face with your own.

Good idea, Apple!

I’m not necessarily offended by the concept of the app. I mean, if I was I’d never go to church or hang out with Christians or even be capable of being alone. Think about it; we who call ourselves the “the Church” are guilty of replacing the face of Jesus with lots of things.

What do you think? 🙂

Viagra is for the treatment of inability to get or keep an erection and similar states when erection is of low quality. When you buy remedies like cialis from canada you should know about cialis online canada. It may have a lot of brands, but only one ATC Code. Erectile disfunction, defined as the persistent impossibility to maintain a satisfactory erection, affects an estimated 15 to 30 millions men in the America alone. Sexual soundness is an substantial part of a man’s life, no question his age etc.

I am kind of disturbed by this.

not that Apple said no to the app but that there IS an app…
what also disturbs me is that apple didn’t say NO to the shaken baby app.

I think there are other things to be annoyed with when it comes to the Church and its lack of efficacy of being truly transformational, especially in the United States. I think the “me so holy” phrase itself is kind of off-putting, based on its origins. So, along the same lines of what you’ve said, if we were really doing our job a)we’d be too busy to even pay attn to this and b)I’d hope Jesus would be a little more inaccessible in terms of being commercialized. But you walk into any Christian bookstore and see otherwise. *shrugs*

I think it was a good, decent/respectful move for them to stop it. I feel like I’m willing to put up with a lot for the sake of love, grace, tolerance, etc. But this kinda pissed me off a little.

Not that this is real persecution or anything. It’s just… if I’m going to show respect/deference to other subcultures, it’d be nice for them to show it to mine, too.

On the other hand, they’re not doing it to Mohamed or the Buddha, so even the very disrespect of Christ means He’s still causing trouble like He did 2,000 years ago! People don’t go out of their way to disrespect something that doesn’t get under their skin in some way.

Meh, Christianity survived the Roman Empire when they used to depict Jesus with the head of a donkey – I think we can survive “me so holy.”

Christians that get bent out of shape by this confuse me. Yes, it’s MEANT to be insulting – the last time I had to deal with a bully was to ignore them until they got bored with me.
