michael tait joins the newsmen

By March 9, 2009Blog

Michael Tait found a job. Yay! Finally, right?

The former dc talker (or is it DC Talker or dc Talker or DC TALKER)… anyway, he’s joining the Newsmen!

He’ll be replacing lead singer Peter Furler (Peter will make guest appearances).

Thoughts? Do you care?

On an unrelated note, let’s talk about how much Michael and his sister Lisa look like each other?

Viagra is for the treatment of inability to get or keep an erection and similar states when erection is of low quality. When you buy remedies like cialis from canada you should know about cialis online canada. It may have a lot of brands, but only one ATC Code. Erectile dysfunction, defined as the persistent impossibility to maintain a satisfactory hard-on, affects an estimated 15 to 30 millions men in the America alone. Sexual health is an substantial part of a man’s life, no question his age etc.

I couldn’t care less about the Newspeople.

I just stopped by to say that I finished the book, and it was good. Very good.

The time for night brushing of teeth is at hand, so I’ll email you tomorrow with the rest of my thoughts.

  • I am going to admit it…
    I love the Newsboys. (it’s a nastalgia {sp?} thing).
But it’s time for them to retire.
With Michael Tait replacing Peter that makes only one person as an original member and I’m sorry but no!
It’s been a good run. It’s over. Stop trying to suck money out of clueless Christians inpop/emi/majorrecordlabelpeople
    Stop it!
    Ooooo… I have an idea…
Lets try coming up with newer better singers/songwriters.

Next you’re going to tell me that Phil Collins is going to be the new lead singer of Van Halen.

    No thanks.

  • Southern Gal says:

Oh, I hope you’re kidding. I have always loved the Newsboys.

    That’s just wrong.

Time to pack it up and go home, fellas.

  • wow, thats is equal to justin timberlake being the new lead singer of backstreet boys.

well, not as far as popularity and good music goes, but still, its prolly a big deal the the CCM world.

I am not a newboys fan, but i am not seeing them any different than most secular pop stars. They have a certain sound that people enjoy so they just reproduce it, over and over and over again. Kelly Clarkson, Nickelback, Beyonce’, pretty much all of them do it, and if your not into it for the music, but for the cash, why not?

this is why U2, Kanye, Bob Dylan, Jon Foreman, etc are so respectable. They take a risk, and it may or may not pay off, but at least they did it.

  • @Relevanish Pastor: Come on, U2 and Jon Foreman do it too. 🙂

I’m an oldish 34, so this may sound cantankerous, but…

Why is it that Christian bands seem like a franchise? there are so many personnel changes but yet they keep their name to preserve a fanbase?

Isn’t furler the only original member left? Why not retire the name outright?

I think of bands like Petra and White Heart (hence my previous disclaimer about age) that also recycled members so much to preserve a fanbase also. Is this just a CCM trend?

I really like Michael Tait – I enjoy his band Tait as well – but him leading the Newsboys -what an odd fit – without Peter – the Newsboys will lose much of their edge – maybe its time to go – or else make a new group – change the name – and move on – I will always have SHINE the hits! So long Newsboys!
I miss DcTalk – but it sounds to me that are finished –
TobyMac is doing well on his own –
Just my 2 cents – Peter please DO NOT LEAVE!

Weirdddd….I don’t know if I can wrap my head around this. I remember when Paul Colman joined, and that was okay. But Michael Tait is 1/3 synonymous with dcTalk, another classic Christian group.
Is Phil Joel even still around? This seems to make it a mishmash of a band, with people from here and there joining. Who ARE the Newsboys anymore?

  • Kristi says:

Is it just me or does he look 12 in that picture? Maybe I need to buy a hat.

  • gitz says:

I have never heard of any of the people you just talked about in that post.

It’s days like this I think I must have been raised by wolves. Either that, or everyone else was 🙂

  • Reed Benson says:

I’ll be interested in finally hearing Michael singing again. I really liked “!HERO: The Rock Opera.”

I don’t have a problem with the Newsboys. If they’re still making money doing what they’re doing, good for them. I’ll only have a problem if they say that they’re not in it for the money, but for refining their art or whatever. And even then, it’s not that big of a deal to me. If I like how it sounds, I’ll listen to it. Otherwise, not. And I actually like their “Hands of God” song. It encourages and comforts me.

They should probably change their name, though.

According to the newsboys website, Peter will still be recording the records. He just wants to sleep in his own bed at night and won’t be touring. The albums/radio will be Peter. The live performances will be Michael Tait. Why not just stop touring?

as i read this post all i could think about was your reaction. “what?!”

which was exactly my reaction. followed by, “it might just be me…but i dont think he has an accent…”

  • they are still around?
