kelly clarkson

By March 7, 2009Blog

I’m a Kelly Clarkson fan. She knows that I am. Seriously, she does. I told her once when I was stalking her at the Nashville airport. I wasn’t really stalking her, but I sort of wanted to. We weren’t on the same flight or anything, but I saw her hanging with some of her band mates at a gate and I just nervously walked up to her like a freak and told her that my wife and I were her biggest fans. “Well, maybe not your biggest fans,” I said, back peddling, “but we love your music.”

I know that some of you think I’m even less cool now than I was, and that’s OK. Now that I’m older I’m becoming more and more comfortable in my own skin, even when that means I like Kelly Clarkson.

Anyway, her new record comes out this week: All I Ever Wanted. Needless to say, I love it. There’s a couple songs that I could have done without. But 12 of the 14 songs are good. But just in case you want to stalk Kelly on TV this week, here’s her appearance schedule:

Kelly is primed to dominate television surrounding the March 10th release of her 4th album, All I Ever Wanted (19 Recordings / RCA Records). Kelly is set to perform her hit single “My Life Would Suck Without You” on 3 of television’s most prestigious programs during release week. She kicks off her whirlwind, cross-country promotional tour on release day with a performance on Good Morning America then jets to the west coast to make a triumphant return to the American Idol stage. Then it’s back to NYC where Kelly will be the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on March 14th. Additionally Kelly will be performing on Live! With Regis & Kelly (3/10), The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (3/19) and Ellen (TBA).

OK, that’s my confession for the day.

What’s your favorite Kelly Clarkson song?

Viagra is for the treatment of inability to get or keep an hard-on and similar states when erection is of low quality. I’m with you, I’m a Kelly fan too and I’m ok with saying that. My favorite song of hers would probably be “Behind These Hazel Eyes” mainly b/c I have hazel eyes.

  • Diane says:

“Break Away” came out at a time in my life when I needed to break away from some bad choices. It became my theme song, and I loved her for it.

  • Breakaway – without a doubt!

LOVE LOVE LOVE Kelly Clarkson, and I’m not even ashamed to admit it. I also love Amy Grant and I had a boyfriend make fun of me incessantly for that. And if you really want someone to be less cool than you, I also like Christina Aguilera. Yeah, that’s right. I said it.

    SOBER. Fantastic song.

Good post. Actually met her back in ’03 (I think) when the act I was road managing opened her first headlining show. Fave song(s): Behind These Hazel Eyes, Walk Away and Low.

  • Gary Durbin says:

My wife and I love her as well. My fav’s would be “Since U Been Gone” & “Walk Away”.

…and, in my opinion, she’s the only winner on American Idol that was worthy.

  • @Gary: How about Carrie? I’d agree otherwise.

  • lol…well. got to tell you, not a huge fan of her, i think her new single sounds identical too…well all of her singles, but with that said, i 100% respect that you admit you are into her. Like my guilty pleasure (and i doubt he would be if the radio wouldn’t play him so much) is Jason Mraz. I love his music like a fat kid loves cake (oh yeah, that was a 50 Cent quote). Some hate him for going “pop”, but, it’s cool.

Anyways, i am not a fan, but got to be real with you, i was way into “because of you”. I think its cause i totally related to it from my upbringing.

Not really a “fan,” but I respect you for being honest and won’t hold it against you. 🙂 Besides, I don’t mind admitting to the entire Internets (or at least these blog readers) that “Since U Been Gone” is a super-fun DDR song. So is “Dance, Dance” by Fall Out Boy. That probably makes me doubly (or triply? sp?) uncool.

  • Yeah, I like Kelly Clarkson. I was reminded of her song, “Never Again,” a few days ago. Our local radio stations didn’t play it much, so I’d forgotten about it. But man, it’s a powerful one.

‘Can We Go Back’ b/c my friend Shanna wrote it 🙂

  • pete wilson says:

Did you see her at Cross Point Sunday? 🙂

  • Jenni Catron says:

I’m a Kelly fan too, but I’ve got to say I HATE the new single. I really hope the rest of the record is better.

  • Kristin says:

I have been obsessed with her ever since seeing her at the Ryman in December of ’07. Fan for life after that. I think I have a one-up on you in the Kelly stalking category – I went and found her Nashville house. Nothing too creepy – just drove past it. Not sure I can really pick a favorite – esp. with all these new-ish songs to digest!
