It would be easier for me to tell my family that I am secretly a woman over telling them I believe in God. I go to church, but talk to no one. I have gotten comfortable at a church and over time, I have become a little less fearful. I see people like Coulter and I wish/hope/pray that I could leave the God thing alone.

I feel like God is following me and Jesus makes people scary. It is driving me nuts. I know I am stereotyping and am too old to care what my family thinks, but I wish they would ban her.

  • Is it just me, or is she virtually shouting the whole time?!

I think her approach is very honest. Personally I would never read a book broaching the subjects she brings up. Just too controversial for me.

  • I can not handle that woman. I feel my blood pressure increase every time she opens her mouth. And yes, she does seem like she is shouting the whole time.

  • Erin says:

    wow.

i consider myself fairly conservative on most issues. but she is embarrassing herself. What is sad is that she truly believes everything she is saying, so I guess she is being very honest (which is refreshing), but somebody needs to educate her.

good for matt lauer for challenging her. he succeeded in making her look completely ridiculous.

  • Susan Isaacs says:

She may have gone in on the defensive, I tend to think the media is slightly skewed toward the left, but Fox News makes up for everyone else. Blecch. “Gracious” and “able to listen” aren’t words I’d apply to her. She tires me.

  • Kelley says:

I don’t understand what people’s problem is with her. If you don’t like her, don’t watch her, but she is a very Conservative minded person who is also a Bible believing Christian. I think we should admire someone who is so unapologetic about their faith, especially when it’s the same faith that we share with her. And agree with her or not, you have to admire her for not backing down.

  • chris says:

how exactly did he put her in her place? didn’t see it, she pretty much made him look stupid. now I remember why i don’t like Matt, he can’t even make a crazy person look crazy.

  • Greg Allen says:

    Um, wow.
I’m glad I missed that on the Today Show!
She seems like a sad person to me.

  • I realize she is a Bible Believing Christian, but what she is doing, isn’t defending Jesus or scripture. She is trying to market HERSELF in order to sell tons of book and be on TV all the time.

She a HUGE reason why we were so divided over this last election. And Lauer was right, people are attempting to get past the division, not just label the liberals/conservatives.

Donald Miller and people like him are assisting in bridging this gap, but if you support figures like her, you are working against that.

  • Kelley says:

I’m not really sure how she was a huge reason in why people were divided over the last election.
In my opinion, people were divided because they didn’t agree with the candidates’ views. I hope and pray there continues to be a gap between liberals and conservatives because they are polar opposites.

  • Hi Matthew. Totally unrelated to this post: Have you ever taken the Enneagram? I think you’re a Type 7. Also, you have a really adorable son. I mean, that kid is cute. Hope all is well with you my friend.

i teach 4-year-olds in sunday school who possess more maturity and wisdom than ann coulter. her claims are ridiculous, but her delivery is ever more so. i find her more disgusting and offensive than michael jackson, and i voted for john mccain. ha!

  • Terroni says:

After making that pesky “try not to say f*** on Christian author’s blogs” New Years resolution, I have had to think hard about how to respond to this post.

The infuriating thing about Ann Coulter is that she uses language like a sword and then, when confronted about it, pretends like she wasn’t swinging around a sharp object. For example, if asked about why she chose to call the children of single mothers “illegitimate” she would simply say, “Well, that’s what they’re called.”

Actually, we don’t called my niece Logyn illegitimate. No one ever has. In fact, she is the most legitimate, wonderful thing to ever happen in my sister’s life apart from the cross.

If Ann’s arguments were solid, she would not have to use this kind of toxic language to garner attention. And, that brings me to my real point. While Ann is correct in saying that society has a problem, she fails to get to the heart of the matter.

The Bible, however, tells us exactly. Isaiah 1:17 says, “Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless…”

You see, there is no greater way to honor the two parent family than by working hard to ensure that even those children who grow up without one are cared for. Ann is right when she says that we have a big problem on our hands. But, what she fails to point out is that those of us who don’t have children and those of us in two parent households are shirking our own tremendous responsibility here.

The women who choose to have their babies even though they don’t have a supportive partner with which to raise them are, as my dad says, pro-life with some skin in the game.

Time for the rest of us to suit up, get off the bench, and play a little defense.

She’s thankful to George Bush for keeping our country safe for the past eight years?? Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t Bush our president on 9/11/01? Can she really be THAT ignorant?

  • Joel says:

    To Relvent-ish pastor:

I agree with most of your comments, but I do take issue with the lable “Bible believing Christian.”

I cannot say one way or the other whether she is a Bible believing Christian, and only God can judge such things. But, before we bestow her and her hateful rhetoric with that label, it is fair to look at whether what she is saying reflects the fruit of the Spirit or biblical teaching in any way. If it was there, I sure missed it. And, if it is the case that her words are antithetical to the gospel, then it does a huge disservice to the church and to those the church seeks to reach by even calling her a “Bible believing Christian.” She may very well be sincere in her Christian walk, but her venomous language and tone in no way reflects that.
