hokey pokey: want to help?

Well, we’re a little less than one week away from the release date of Hokey Pokey: Curious People Finding What Life’s All About. A friend in Pennsylvania sent me a cell phone picture of Hokey Pokey already on the bookshelf at his local Christian bookstore! So, I guess that’s a good sign!

My publisher David C. Cook has informed me that Hokey Pokey has been picked up by most of the major Christian bookstore chains as well as Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, and Borders. That’s very good news, considering B&N and Borders didn’t touch my What You Didn’t Learn From Your Parents series.

Some people have written me and asked how they can help promote Hokey Pokey. If you desire to pitch in, there are several ways one can go about help get the word out about a book! So, if you dare, here’s a run down of things you can do…

1) Buy the book! This might be obvious, but it’s important that you buy the book at a place where they count book sales. Any major bookstore, such as Borders, B&N, B.A.M.M., Wal-mart, Family, Lifeway, etc are great places to purchase Hokey Pokey. But if you can’t get out to a bookstore, buy the book at Amazon.com! Amazon.com is always a sure bet. So if you happen to tell your friends about the book via email or you’re posting about the book on your blog or on your MySpace page, put a link to the book’s home at Amazon.com!

2) MySpace.com Link! In the next few days we will have available a MySpace code that you can put directly on your MySpace homepage that will show a picture of the book and will be a link to purchase the book at Amazon.com! If you’re open to doing this for us, that would be awesome! We would love if a lot of people did this and even got their friends to do it…

3) Write an Amazon.com review! Anybody who would be willing to write an Amazon.com review, that would be great. And of course, 5 stars is better than 1 star, but I’ll take either! 🙂

4) Tell all of your friends! I know this seems kind of obvious, but seriously, word of mouth is the best way for books to find an audience. So please spread the word!

5) If you’re at a bookstore, and you don’t see Hokey Pokey on the bookshelf, ask them to order a copy! (Even if you don’t go back and buy it there… just get them to order it…it helps…)
