Mitt Romney talking/ranting about his faith

By November 1, 2012Blog

This conversation is all over the place. And Romney does seem defensive at times. Sometimes rude. But it definitely offers some perspective about how Romney views his dedication to his church vs. his policies.

Thoughts?

Viagra is for the treatment of inability to get or keep an erection and similar states when erection is of low quality. When you buy remedies like cialis from canada you should know about cialis online canada. It may have a lot of brands, but only one ATC Code. Erectile malfunction, defined as the persistent impossibility to maintain a satisfactory erection, affects an estimated 15 to 30 millions men in the America alone. Sexual health is an substantial part of a man’s life, no question his age etc.

Wow. My father in law is an authoritarian patriarch and is entrenched in legalism. He is also extremely into the end times. Mitt Romney reminds me exactly of my father in law. So sad. I won’t be voting this year…and this is one reason why. I don’t trust him or his character.

This station is based out of my city! Go Des Moines!
Romney seems a bit ashamed of his faith…. What’s wrong with just sharing a bit about what you believe? It can’t possibly be worse for his public image than that little display of theatrics.

this is a man who cannot listen to anyone. he is rude, impulsive and is pro life only on one issue.

  • Kevin says:

It’s interesting that he never wants to talk about his Mormon faith … or release his taxes, etc., yet one’s faith and what they do with their money are huge signs of their character and what guides them as a person. Aren’t those ideas one wants to get across first and foremost when running for president? Why the awkward silence?

when did this place become MittRomneyNeedsNewPR?

When you said “seems defensive” you were being quite generous. His brief/rushed explanation of his Massachusetts record I didn’t think was too bad actually. If he could remain calm and open to discussion and say that over again, I think everyone who wants to believe him actually would.

As a broadcaster, I need to point out that this conversation was OFF THE AIR (The host says at one point, “I have to get back on the air”). It was a private conversation between two individuals…AS A HOST, I always felt these conversations were private… and as is this one, often very spirited.

    Who is the radio host?

Lol huge add in the middle of my page asking me to donate at mittromney.com

I don’t get the agitation at all. President Obama got raked over the coals about his faith until he pretty much had to give his testimony to shut people up, and even that didn’t stop an embarrassing number of our population from calling him a Muslim. And from what I could hear based on this video the radio host was playing softball. This is why we need atheist presidents, but even they would get grilled over the basic tenants of humanism or something. Either Romney was reacting out of sheer exhaustion from too much campaigning or he’s too thin skinned to remain in the public eye.

  • Amanda says:

I don’t think this is a fair representation. We have no clue what the host might have said prior to the start of the video. What got Romney’s feathers ruffled in the first place? And, I agree with him…he’s not running for Pastor, he’s running for President. With so many greater issues at hand, I can imagine he probably gets frustrated when people try and focus only on his faith. It also highlights some underhanded tactics…taking something that was supposed to be “off the record” and posting it out of context for others to misinterpret.

I’m not planning on voting for either main candidate, but since when does releasing your taxes, which Romney did, indicate what you do with your money? It only indicates what you paid in taxes and what you itemized (such as the large sum Romney gave to charity).
I’ve really grown weary of supporters of both main candidates being so unfair to those they don’t support. We seem to hate extremists, but this election has shown we have plenty in this country.

That being said, Romney is passionate about his faith and he seems to want his actions to align with his faith. Whether that’s good or bad depends on your perspective I guess.

  • Kevin says:

I think this is very interesting, but I don’t like that this is supposed to be “off-air” and is now on YouTube.

  • Leanne says:

While I am not a fan that Romney believed this to be off air and it is still publicized, the fact is we live in a world where everything is recorded. It reminds me that everyone has a bad day, a trigger that sets them off, gets short on patience, etc.

Having said that, I think there are some telling things in this. While we do not know the questions which lead to this dialogue, Romney does seem extraordinarily defensive. That is never a good place to argue from.
The questions about what he believes vs. the Mormon church is somewhat valid. Yes, Romney knows his faith better but there are issues where he and his church are not always on the same page. He has had what seems like an “evolving” view on abortion. While he was not pro choice in the past fully, he has seemed to move his position on the issue. And the Romney healthcare that Massachusetts has does allow for abortions to be covered, if I remember the article I read correctly.

But having said that, there are Catholics I know who believe in birth control. In other words, no one adheres to all of the beliefs and practices of their particular church all the time. But Romney seems to take offense at someone asking for clarification. Was it a sore spot for him? Does he not want to admit to not fully embracing all things Mormon because it risks his status in the church? Does he not want to admit to fully embracing all things Mormon for risk of losing votes?

This bothers me a lot. While it was legal to use his church to avoid paying taxes I find it to be highly unethical.

  • The most telling line in this rant to me is, “I’m not running as a Mormon.”
    1) This shows what the quest for power/the Presidency does to people. It asks them to divorce themselves from their core beliefs.

Or, 2) This is just more politi-speak & flip-flopping from Romney and when in office he will govern from his Mormonism. Like he admittedly did in Mass…so I guess in fact he is running as a Mormon.

    3) Not sure why he’s so angry. We talked about faith with every president from Kennedy – Obama. Why would we stop now?

  • Leslie says:

His defensiveness is unnerving to me–“I’m the Decider” all over again. Not sure where the interview was prior to this, but if I watched it without sound, he could just as easily been saying “You wanna fight with me–you wanna piece of me?”
And is there a Mitt who is not a Mormon? We are who we are. It is simply a matter of when we reveal our true colors.
