Friends,
I need your help! Would you please look at the following three book covers and let me know which one you like the best? I need your opinions, even if you simply write “I like number one” or “I hate number three.” Your thoughts will be greatly appreciated! And if you want to, send a link to my blog to your friends and family and get their opinions, too! Thank you so much!
Matthew

“who does number 2 work for?” you got my vote!
I like the color and feel of #1 but doesn’t tell me what the book is all about. not sure it fits the title
#2 looks out dated
#3 fits the title. I like that one the best.
I like one and three, not a fan of two.
While I find that the three covers fit with the quote under the title. I do not feel any of the three pictures fit the title. When I think of Hokey pokey, I think of a big circle of people and the dance.
#3. by a landslide.
I LOVE number 2. It’s by far my fave. This is nicci btw.
I think # 1 or #3 are the way to go! I’m guessing there is probably a bigger retail desire for #3, but #1 is awesome too.
I’m leaning towards number one. Number three is also pretty good.
#3 works best for the title, I think, and is most appealing to me. I don’t like #1. #2 is OK.
I think number three is by far the best of the bunch. I like it.
Cameron
#1 or #3. If I saw those sitting on a shelf, I’d be curious as to what the book was actually about. Not so with #2…that doesn’t inspire any interest in me at all.
I might be more inclined to go with #1 though, because the image is as intriguing as it is on #3, but you can read the book title from far away as well.
1 or 3. That’s what I’d say.
i think the third one is great, the colors, typography, and design all fit very nicely.
my two cents.
#3 is the best, #2 worst
I think #3 is by far the most marketable and appealing, but one could say the same for #2.
its a tie between 1 and 3. they’re both good
2…not so much
#1 b/c it grabs your attention
#1 b/c it grabs your attention. just a women’s perspective.
I like number 3 the best.
i believe #2 is the most rockin’. #3 would be my next choice.
hope things are going well…
…ben
Love #1.
Number 3…but I’m with who ever it was that said it doesn’t seem to fit the tite? But 3 by a landslide for coolness
I like #3.
#1 makes me think of drowning.
#2 reminds me of the time in college when about ten of us piled into a compact car on the way home from a basketball game. I was the only female in the car. When someone spotted a police officer coming toward us, he screamed “Duck!” and pushed my head down and sideways into someone’s lap. Embarrassing. I yelled for him to let go of my head which he didn’t, so I managed to elbow him in the crotch. He screamed again “(rhymes with duck)!”, waited a moment until the car was stopped, opened the door, and threw me into a snowbank. The guys all laughed, and so did I. But just seeing those entwined body parts in such cramped quarters makes me hyperventilate!
Definitely #3.
3
I like 2 and 3. I think 3 fits the title more (“put your ___ leg in!”) but the disimbodied legs in both 1 and 3 do kinda creep me out. I really like the second cover and I feel it fits in nicely with your other book covers, with the bold colors and larger print, though it does strike me as less related to the actual song.
#1… It’s free, joyous and vaguely nutty on so many levels. Considering the title of the book, could it be ‘that’s what it’s all about’? Anyhow, can’t wait to read it.
Blessings, T
#3.
#1 is nice, but not attention-grabbing.
#2 is funny, but is less fitting than the other two.
#3 is funny, attention-grabbing. There’s a story right in the picture, a lot more so than in the other two. It would be the book I pick up to see what it’s all about. From a design perspective, too, I like its simplicity – all that green, and suddenly! a pair of legs. Odd. Funny. Interesting…
TOTALLY #3
do not like #2
Not even close…. #1
#3 is the funniest. Who cares if the cover matches the title exactly? I interpret book titles anagogically.
#3- is the best design… #1- is just a weird pic… don’t care for it. the picture in #2 seems to make sense with the title of the book… but i don’t care for the design. #3- the only hesitation i have is that i can’t really see the details of the dude ducking into the bushes… hopefully it looks realistic and not like bad photoshop???? if that looks good in a full size version… it definitely has the most professional design.
if none of those work for you, i might know of a guy who does design work. 😉
I like #3 best, with #2 a close second.
And I’d love to help promote your book! I do online book reviews at http://deenasbooks.blogspot.com
Check it out! Email me if you’d like me to do a review.
One more comment:
3 is the funniest cover. However, to me, the image + the graphic design almost make it look like it’s a Wes Anderson or Zach Braff take on depression or something.
#1 fits the “hokey pokey” theme of sticking your feet out or whatever. Seems to be more about “breaking out,” too.
Okay, that’s enough from me. Still like ’em both.
I like number 2 best.
Number 1 is a close second, but I wonder about the looks I’ll get on the bus reading a book with that cover.
I really don’t like number 3 much. Just doesn’t do it for me.
I’d definitely say #3. It’s so awkward and it really fits. The second choice would be #2. Hope all is well bro.
Christopher
I like #2 the best. i think it brings out the sense of the era when that song came out, but also gives a sense of peculiarity of people and the things they do… i think #3 is hillariosu though.
#3 is fantastic!!
Number 1 is my favourite. Number 2 is a defiante no for me.
I gotta go with #3. That person is definitely curious of what’s on the other side of the hedge. It would work better for your title if it had a few people with their heads through the hedge. My runner up is #1. Searching for something in the water. Love it!! Great covers 🙂
I’ll say #3. I like #1 too, and #2 is funny, but you can’t really see the picture past the title of the book. #3 gets my vote.
I love #3. I can totally relate to looking through the fence/hedge to see what is over there. Remember — The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

i like #1 – very playful, made me feel happy and really caught my eye
second choice #3 – fits with the whole “curious” theme
#2 kind of creeps me out LOL
Definitely #3!
They are all really funny, but I think the third one gets my vote.
I actually liked all three, it was between 2 and 3 for me….
So I am going to say #3.
final answer.
deanna
my vote is for #3!!
Smiles,
I’m a #1 fan…
no, the #1 cover…
sorry, don’t know you at all
😀
Wow. I honestly didn’t expect to get so much response. This is crazy. Thank you so much! Okay, so those of you who like #3 (which I must be honest, was my least favorite going into this), is there any part of you who thinks those pants look like stuffed jeans stuck into the side of a hedge? They don’t look “alive.” Does that make sense? Would that be a concern if you were me?
Thank you again for visiting my blog…
No. 1 really does it for me. Large title and simple picture grabbed my attention!
Number one kinda creeps me out for some reason. I really like #3.
They all look great, but my favorite is number 2!
A toss between 1 and 3!
ok…i like #3, but you are right. the pants don’t look real. but definately it looks more appropriate for the sub-title of the book. who took that pic? is there anyway you could have someone get in a bush and you take a pic of that…atleast to see if it looks more real!?? anywho. later bud.
Number 3. I like the idea of looking beyond what you always see.
#3, that’s to funny
I vote #3.
#3, I agree with the fake looking pants.
I really love number three!so cool picture!
3. and then 1.
no #2 please.
I like 1 & 3. 2 is a little busy….
🙂 Blessings! Michelle
I really really really like #3… it just appeals to me for some reason… makes me want to pick up the book and see what the guy is looking at! LOL
And I dig the font on that one (and #1, right?) It’s very cool!
I do not like number 1. Number 2, is alright, but I definately like number 3.
I like number 3.
Blessings! Amber
I like #3 best
love #3 – it works much more than the other two!
I like the second one. The phone both is quite “curious,” indeed! Good luck with it!!!
Hey. Man, I miss doing stuff like this. My vote is for #3 — it shows the curiosity and it made me laugh out loud when I saw it. I don’t quite get #1 or 2 — but as a claustraphobe, I’d never be curious to see what THAT was all about. Hope it helps (and that things are going well!)
kate
okay, after I voted I read the otehr comments — and your question about the legs not looking real. It may be the angle but I’m wondering if the pants are rolled up or something? And is the guy wearing loafers? I think my dad wore those… in the 80s. So if you go with that one and it’s being reshot, I’d steer clear of old man boat shoes. And cuffed jeans.
But I don’t want to talk you into a cover you don’t like! ; )
Number 3, then number 1.
Number 2 didn’t do anything for me at all.
number 3 number 3.
I have to say I’m pretty bias to this title….I just love the Hokies 🙂 LOL
Totally just my opinion and first thoughts when I saw them…
1 – kinda freaks me out…
2 – looks too “old-timey”
3 – like the concept…see what you mean about the legs though…don’t know how much things can be edited but maybe if the left foot was flat on the ground with that knee bent at about a 75 degree angle it would give the appearance of the dude climbing in to see what’s in there…right now the legs just look kinda limp…need to look more like they’re in motion…
I like the colors of #1 and it grabs my attention. #2 is also good and I love the black and white look to it. #3- I may be weird but I don’t like it as much as the other two. Hope that helps. I’ll be looking forward to reading it.
I like the second one! It’s funny and eye-catching! Good-luck!
i LOVE 3…..it caught my eye the most, but they are all VERY COOL!
tara
Like I said in e-mail if I had to pick one of the covers I would pick #3. One creeps me out. I thought #2 would be liked by others even though I don’t care for it but your comments here show me differently.
P.S. I know my webpage belongs on the worst webpage site but am working on getting it redone. Don’t let the webpage that “siphons” hold you against which cover I like…..
I love the pic of the people in the phone booth (#2)
well. #1 gives me the willies. #2 is ok but ….
I like #3 the best but it kinda looks like one of those fake kid dolls that lean on the wall-kwim?
But it is the best concept.
good luck!
I definitely like #2 the best. I feel like it best illustrates the concept in a graphically compelling way…
Just my .02!
Christa
I like #2 and #3.
Hah. Had to sit in on cover design meetings all the time when I worked in publishing (don’t get too excited, I was in textbook publishing). Anyway, I think No.3 has the modern feel that seems to attract people nowadays. I have no clue how that photo relates to the content of the book, though. No. 2 is a cute photo, but makes for a very busy cover, and almost makes the title disappear. No. 1 is just plain weird, and if your subject matter is Christian, it seems a little risque in some ways. That’s my 2 cents!
Number 2’s kind of cool. A little vintage, and I like it. I am ok with 3, but not at all liking 1.
Hate #1. It’s really just strange. Really like #3. Agree with post above that #2 is a bit busy.
i vote for #2…it’s the vivid orange on black/white, with the 60s feel to the photo. very cool. i’d buy it.
the other two covers scream “self-help” section – in a not-so-good way.
I like #1. The cover really jumped out at me right away.
I like Number 3.
I don’t like Number 2.
I like #3 the best 🙂
I pick book cover #3, with the legs sticking out!
You got 86 comments (make that 87)!!?? Good night. I knew people read your blog, but wow—86 comments? Was #3 the winner? I hope so.
Soon,
Cameron
Don’t like #1. Love the third. I’d be ok with the second, but it’s distracting. I think #3 is most intriguing and most fitting.
three is the best. one is a close second. two is my last pick.
I would say my favorite is #2. Next favorite is #3. Can’t wait to see the finished product!
John
I couldn’t resist stopping to check out #1 if I saw it on the bookshelf.
#2 does nothing for me or my dog.
I give my close-second vote to #2. Doesn’t have the shock value of #1, but what is behind that hedge?!?!
#3.
If that caught my eye while walking down the aisle at Barnes & Noble, I’d stop and turn myself around. That’s what it’s all about!
Right?

When it comes right down to it, all I wanna know is…may I have a copy to review??????

I like #1. When you read the subtitle of the book it makes the picture make sense.
#3 looks like a dead body left in the bushes
#2 is overused.
Two!
I like number two 🙂
Number 2.
