So, Steven Curtis Chapman, what the heck is this cover supposed to be?
Did one of your children design it?

actually…a smurf vomited on it.
My guess? Metaphorically–a mixing of blue Heaven and green Earth on a background of pure white, spilling into or superimposed upon a down-and-dirty, denim-clad human, all of which can be erased by the artist should he choose to end “This Moment” and start anew.
My thoughts: his designer was inspired by Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” video. But instead of doing black & white inksplots, he did a runny watercolor drip and inserted himself into the splots, with far less successful results than the Gnarls Barkley vid.
yea, to me it looks like water color spilled on it… i tried looking at it for a minute to see if I could get significant meaning… yea.
yeah, It just looks like a ‘watercolor’ rendering of Chapman superimposed on the earth….he is after all huge on global missions..
it’s just a poor design I think.
He must have had Dunder Mifflin print it up.
It concerns me when others will judge something like a jacket cover with such negativity. I don’t recall Christ asking us to use our hearts, minds and words to bring others down. I have seen that here on more than one occasion, and it makes my heart sad to think that it is aimed at anyone. Especially Christian artists.
Just my own thoughts. I don’t know what the inspiration was behind this art…but I would be hesitant to pass judgement. His music has touched many lives. I think that is SCC main focus…to allow Christ to be real in His life and to flow out through him- being simply a tool for Christ’s love to be revealed.
I have no doubt that God can use anyone- any type of artwork- for HIS glory- no matter what it looks like.
That to me has been the beauty of Christ in my own life in the past few years. He amazes me by using the broken {ugly} parts of my life to shine His light to others. I think therein lies the beauty. Out of sin and brokeness and shame…and out of our willingness to be used by God despite our inabilities, He is able to His Kingdom work.
I pray that I won’t ever hinder someone who has been called by God and seeks with all their heart to be used by Him.
I would hope that other Christ followers would support their fellow believers in this work too.
Blessings to all who seek to spread the Truth. No matter what the media or vessel.
it is what it is… maybe one day one of us can just ask him and then we will know. However I do like the idea of it being water and earth and all that jazz.
