During Jessica and my thirteen-month engagement, Jessica was in Wisconsin finishing her degree at UW and I was living in Nashville. Needless to say, we talked on the phone five or six times a day. Sometimes more. Many of those conversations involved late night dream sessions, times when one of us would imagine our future together. On one of those occasions, shortly after I returned from a trip to Nicaragua with Compassion International, I remember Jessica telling me that she hoped that one day we would together help the poor.
Jessica’s heart for people was one of her most beautiful qualities. Still is.
During our five and half years of marriage, both of us have helped the poor in small ways. But on May 3rd, Jessica’s late-night dream so many years ago will come true as Jessica and I (along with four other bloggers–more info about that in a moment) will travel together to Dominican Republic with World Vision. Needless to say, both of us are excited and honored.
