- I don’t know how to hold a baby. (And it’s nothing like holding a puppy or a potted plant.)
- Changing diapers requires that you be on both offense AND defense (at the same time, all the time).
- Another man in the house likes my wife’s boobs. (And he gets them ALL the time.)
- Having a baby will get you out of doing almost anything (church, work meetings, deadlines, etc). But not taxes.
- Women make fun of guys who don’t know how to hold babies. (And of course, they’re always an expert.)
- The sizes of baby clothes are completely screwed up! Whoever came up with the idea that a size 18 months will fit a nine to twelve-month old did NOT have children.
- Every new parent should be on Adderall
Oh, there will be so much more… I need a nap! Mommy and baby are doing really well.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I have 2 boys, the changing diaper thing – so true!
The boob thing – my husband just SIGHED and agreed!
It will get better. It will turn to 2nd nature SOON, and very soon. You will get sleep and you’ll figure out the clothes sizing and YOU’LL BE CHANGED EVERYDAY FOREVER!
Thank you God for this precious baby. Please give these new parents the wisdom that they need to ‘get in the groove’. When sleep comes, please allow that sleep to be as good as 12 solid hours, no matter how short it probably will be!
God, please bless their socks off in a way only YOU can do!
Amen and Amen!

I do need to be on Adderall too – but my kids are 26 & 28 and out of the house on their own. I’ll have to google that and find out what it is. 🙂
Holding babies is tough – 🙂 My first hubby avoided it w/1st born until she was about 9 mos. W/second he held him SOON! 🙂 He learned. 🙂
God bless!
Welcome to Parenthood!!!
Things I have learned since being a mom of 4- ages 19, 17, 10 and 8
You will never ever make enough money- it goes for food and shoes!
You will never ever sleep again alone…
I am not smarter than a fifth grader- (really not a third grader but I was too embarressed to confess- oh well)
I really do not have eyes behind me head- I keep checking
Bodily functions are somehow suppose to be humorious- even in church- NOT
But you know what even with this such small list I have given you- Oh do I have so much more but I did not want to depress you-
I would not ever change any of it- My kids are the core of my being and I love every one so very much.
Enjoy these days. They are peaceful and I have found if you laugh alot especially when you are so tired you could cry- try to look at the big picture…
You are holding your son.
He is a part of your love you have for your wife.
He loves you and doesn’t even know it yet.
When he grabs your hand for the first time- it will melt your heart.
God Bless,
Love Michele Stewart
Hang in there, it will get easier with time!
And I’ve never compared holding a baby to hold a potted plant! Ha!
Enjoy and get some ZZZZ’s
I don’t know, you looked like an excellent baby-holder in the video the other day….
I am having so much fun reading your blog! A mother of two, I totally enjoyed your last entry. So true!
Well at least you get a great tax return, even if you don’t get out of filing/paying taxes!
And women will forever make fun of man’s inept-ness (is that even a word?).
My 15 month old wears 2T clothing. I don’t know WHO makes baby clothes, but… yeah… seriously!
