Bless your heart Jessica!! I hope you get some rest and Eli makes his appearance sooner rather than later. I had a very difficult labor and I know how frustrating it is just waiting. Praying for a smooth and quick delivery!!

  • Joy says:

Oh sweetie, you sound like you’re doing great! Just rest as much as you are able. And I UNDERSTAND about being hungry. It really really really stinks.

    I love these video updates!

Tell that hubby to eat his food somewhere else…

  • Kathy says:

    Hey you guys,
First, Jessica, you look beautiful. I know you feel like you look like hell, but I don’t know many women who would share as you are.
Remember to greet the birth process and contractions one at a time. Don’t get ahead of yourself. When you add that to the fatigue, it can become discouraging.
(I am filling in as a virtual doula).
Matthew, absolutely,no matter what, don’t eat in front of her. Make up some lame excuse for why you need to leave the room so you can eat, because it is important for you to keep your strength up. If necessary, hide your smoothie or m & m’s in the bathroom somewhere, because at some point she may not let you leave her side. Anticipate Jessica may even tell you to leave, and when you take one step in that direction holler at you, “Where are you going?” There comes a time when the frustration bubbles up and over and you just need to be there for her. But whatever you do, don’t say, “I know what you are going through” Only women who have been there have that privilege.
Transition is tough, particularly if they start pit. I know you guys don’t want any more interventions, so it becomes particularly helpful to take it one contraction at a time. There may be times, like the crying time, when she just cries again; fatigue and frustration get expressed that way. Your presence and support mean so much. If you haven’t had your contraband snack by then, forget it…
If she opts for an epidural, look the other way.
I love you guys, and will pray for Elias to come sooner rather than later, with as little additional medical management as possible.
    Blessings, Kathy
