Without trying to get too Bible-y, the proverb that says, “A soft answer turns away wrath” comes to mind. I just try to reply/respond as calmly as possible to things that really need a reply, and do my best to let go of other things.

Excellent podcast. I love the two comments, “If you are in a war stop throwing bombs” and “when you’re in a hole quit digging”. Both are things I need to remember in daily life, not just dealing with family. I live with a mental illness and often am treated like I’m a baby and/or someone to be avoided. It helps to not be on the defense and offer charity and compassion. People still may be jerks but when we take the high road we can have a clear conscience regardless of the outcome.
