This should make every evangelical think twice before voting for Romney. But alas, I think we all know that evangelicals are more than willing to sell their convictions up river to vote Republican.

    • Arthur says:

So, we can vote for the guy that’s consistently voted in favor of partial birth abortion (as in, the child is actually born alive).
Or we can vote for the guy that’s in the whacky church.

I’ll choose lunatic church all day.

Also; we need a Black Liberation Theology video too please.

      • Brad says:

Apparently you lived under a rock during the last election, because those Jeremiah Wright videos were everywhere. Also, you apparently didn’t know that Mitt Romney is also pro-choice, pro-gay rights, pro-universal health care, and completely moderate. At least he was until he decided to run for President. Oh, and he won’t talk about his faith, while we have a sitting President who talks about his Christian faith quite a bit.

      • Leanne says:

Romney’s version of Obamacare included abortion….it seems we don’t really have a pro-life candidate.

      • Pam says:

I can give you the Wikipedia page on Black liberation theology (you could have found it if you cared) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_liberation_theologyThere's nothing all that controversial in it – it’s just a social justice theology of combatting racism and prejudice directed at African-Americans. Some ‘left wing’ terminology, but that’s about it.

        • Arthur says:

Yea, a little Marxism never hurt anyone, right? Tell that to those who suffered under Mao or at the hands of the Bolsheviks. Millions of who dead? Who? Oh, just Christians, don’t worry about them. It’s a fair system; don’t agree with our Marxism and you die. It’s pretty simple and straight forward.
And how does one “combat racism” whilst being incredibly racist? Rev. Wright teaches about the African Jesus. Jesus did go to Egpyt, but Israel, Bethlehem, Nazareth, Galilee; all in Asia, but don’t tell Mr. Wright that. Please do answer that question though; how does one combat racism WITH racism? Is racism only racism when it’s white on black? (See also: Michelle Obama’s time at the Third World Center at Princeton where they also combated racism, by apparently banning white people from their meetings.)

If we’re voting based on religion; I’ll take the guy practicing second-hand Freemasonry techniques and going door-to-door in white shirts over a religion that’s CURRENTLY teaching racism. (Currently being highlighted as I’m sure there will be quotes of the Mormon’s former poor treatment of black people, but this is something alive and well in the churches teaching the black liberation theology).

And to the earlier commenter; I said nothing of abortion in general; I don’t support it, but it’s the ‘norm’ now, so what can you do? I was speaking of only partial birth abortion. Obama had stated before the ’08 election and I believe that he voted in favor of allowing partial birth abortion. Go read up on that style of evil. It’s hideous. It also kind of throws the excuse of “the birth would kill the mother” out the window…as the baby is actually born during this process…

I’m all for giving. I’m all for getting rid of the absolute waste in our society and government and giving to those in TRUE need. We don’t need million dollar yachts and 3 Bimmers in the garage. And I understand that communism/left-wing whatever/Marxism promises equality across the board; but it has never and will never work that way. Go look up Michelle O’s travel records. She’s spent what averages out to $250k a month on travel in the last 4 years. A MONTH. In Marxist, communist states, there are the elite and then there’s everyone else where the “do as i say, not as i do” mentality is far reaching.

Take 30 minutes and look at the lives of the Russians, the Chinese, or for a more modern horror, the North Koreans under communist rule. It’s a godless hell. I can’t understand why you guys don’t see it. And if you say O has no communist leanings, then answer me why he has such connections to William Ayers, Michael Klonksky, and Frank Marshall Davis (his mentor, in his own words).

  • Kevin says:

As a Christian, it’s disturbing because they call themselves Christians and they clearly are not. As a voter, the part at the 3:44 mark is disturbing: “The Mormon Law of Consecration requires that the faithful dedicate their ‘time, talents, and everything’ to ‘the building up of the Kingdom of God (Elohim) on the Earth and for the establishment of Zion,’ referring to the Mormon belief that civil government will be replaced by a religious government administered by Mormons.'”
More people need to see this video, especially Christians. Thanks for posting.

  • J. Daniel Rollins says:

    Yep.

  • JPB says:

    What’s with the music?

  • Bizarre. In every way I can think of. Where in the world did you find this and how long has it been available for viewing? I’m surprised it hasn’t made its way out into the mainstream more.

  • matt m says:

I really don’t care that Romney’s a Mormon. I only care that he’s a competent and just leader if he’s elected. I do care that the evangelical community, who spent the past few decades RAILING against the Mormon Church as a cult, is now backtracking to keep political prowess with the Republican Party.
Suddenly, evangelicals are cool with Mormons; shoot, even Romney spoke at Liberty. It reminds me of how evangelicals RAILED against Catholics and Rated R movies…until Passion of the Christ came out. How convenient to excuse something you label as evil when it can suit your purposes.

But gay marriage? Won’t budge there.

    • Abby Normal says:

I think all of that just goes to show what I’ve been suspecting for some time—American evangelical Christianity is pretty much just a religious arm of the Republican party, while the Republican party is just a political lobby for American evangelical Christianity.

    • Mallory says:

Yep, it really doesn’t matter what Romney does. Evangelicals are in bed with the GOP and anybody but Obama.

      • arthur ramsey says:

I’m going to venture a guess that this might have something to do with the other party promoting/supporting quite a few ideas/causes (and not gay marriage; honestly at this point I just don’t care) that “Evangelicals” (which is now a dirty word I guess) don’t feel are in line with the principles that God has put in place for us. It seems that “non-Evangelicals” have decided that every special interest group’s cause/rights trump the Word of God. Grace, yes. Forgiveness, yes. But, essentially telling everyone ‘it’s ok’ to live contrary to the life, that it seems is spelled out “fairly” plainly for us, is to turn our backs from God.

  • Rich says:

I was hoping to see a Coke machine in the Celestial area there. Seriously though this is a cult. Thing is, even if Mitt wins the popular vote, he won’t win the election.

  • Leanne says:

I personally do not think a candidate’s religion should determine whether or not they are fit to be in a leadership position.
But I do find it ironic that many of my conservative friends say they cannot vote for Obama because he is a Muslim but they are very much ready to vote for Romney who is a Mormon and never until recently has even been considered to be Christian.

  • Jeff says:

This video convinced me to NOT vote for Romney.

  • Melissa says:

My reaction to this video is a half-hearted shrug. Like…who cares? So what if Mormons dress in all white and do weird rituals in secret. None of what’s shown on this secret footage is harming anybody. None of it is divulging a Mormom teaching that encourages hatred or violence. It’s just weird. And so is everything religious. (I’m religious, by the way.)
I remember learning that people were freaked out that JFK was Catholic. They thought the US would be secretly run by the Pope because of JFK’s Catholicism. The general public seems to be wary of any politician who’s not Protestant. It’s been that way for decades.

    Old news. ::yawn:: I’m bored.

    • Alli says:

Agreed. However, I’m not an evangelical. I can see how this would scare/infuriate someone who is worried about someone being “lead astray.” I think we do a lot of odd things in the Christian religion (the Eucharist is fairly weird when you really think about it), so secret hand shakes don’t really freak me out.

  • Kevin says:

I’m not a religious scholar, nor am I a fan of throwing around the anti-Christ label, but it seems to me that a number of influential Christian groups making dramatic shifts on their stances on Mormonism lines up with scripture more than some of the other more recent candidates we’ve tried to saddle with the title.

  • Brian says:

Thought this was interesting. An inside look at the secrets.

  • Quite a bit crazy but not much more crazy than fundies. Just a different kind of crazy.
